Overview
Personal Assistant (Part-Time)
About Meem
Emelene (Meem) is a popular, happy and caring child. She was born with ACC, which means that the part of her brain that connects the two sides of her brain is missing; this results in global development delay and limited mobility. Meem is very chatty and has a great sense of humor; she enjoys watching movies and searching on YouTube for her favourite characters. Her preferred foods include chips with mayonnaise and spaghetti Bolognese; McDonalds is a favourite occasional treat. Meem is currently not able to use the toilet and uses pads. She sometimes needs help eating and drinking, though she often prefers to do these tasks herself. She uses a wheelchair to move about, except at home where she’s more confident walking short distances.
She likes to talk and interact with everyone, including strangers, so care needs to be taken with interaction level and appropriateness—she is affectionate and often asks for cuddles/kisses, which should be discouraged except with family and close friends. She is not keen on hair touching or being fussed over, teased, or exposed to sarcasm as she does not understand it. She enjoys chatting but can be difficult to understand, so patience is important. Meem also has epilepsy, which is well controlled.
Hours of Work
There are 6 hours per month available, working 2 x 3 hour sessions at the weekend.

She’s less keen on noisy and enclosed environments and is a proper home-bird who enjoys reading or watching TV.
