You will play a key role in the Service Monitoring and Incident management team, providing support functions to Subject Matter Experts to take the most relevant and effective action.The scope covers from the detection and identification of significant incidents, recording and communication of the incident, determination of issue and probable root cause through analysis and tools, the identification and execution of remedial actions to ensure services remain in their optimal state, through to reporting on the effectiveness of the solutions to drive further improvements.The role will include the identification of Continuous Improvement opportunities, defining a solution to the issue and delivering on it or promptly raising it to the next supporting technical level.This is not a Cisco networking position.The day-to-dayProactively respond to alarms to minimise any possible service outageDuring service Degradation or Outage conditions promptly perform all necessary actions to restore service as quickly as possibleEscalate as specified in the relevant procedures and handle the communication to the interested parties.Produce timely and accurate reportsPerform regular daily and routine checks on all systems and services to ensure their reliabilityProvide feedback on operational issues to other controllers, NOC support engineers and managersContribute on keeping up to date procedures, documentation and contact detailsParticipate in network activities coordination, especially if these are real time activities, emergency, short notice or out the working hoursProvide support as necessary to Land Earth Stations in maintaining network carrier levelsMonitor the progress of any distress traffic in the network and take immediate action if necessaryIdentify areas for automation to reduce manual efforts where possibleProactively contribute to continuous improvement by adopting a proactive mind-set, presenting ideas to management, and championing continuous improvement at team levelCreate efficient operational and technical processes/procedures, reclaiming time from wasteProvide support through coaching and training to other engineers and teamsProvide support for Customer care cases within the time frame as they are defined by the SLAEnsure all the scheduled activities are successfully accomplishedToolsOperate the NOC monitoring facilities, report any anomalous operations of the facilities and provide first line maintenance to ensure their continued availabilityAssist with the planning and implementation of various NOC projectsUsage of Service Now for ITIL process (especially incident and change management)Usage of automation platforms, techniques and scriptingKnowledge of Service NowGeneralMaintain logbook for all NOC activitiesGenerate outage - shift - daily reports.Assist with training of new shift controllersAssist users with inquiries/difficultiesAssist with the development and implementation of network and NOC operational procedures.Assist with the introduction of new services, new network co-ordination stations, land earth stations and mobile earth stations.What You'll NeedExperience on shift working patternExperience in Operational environmentsTechnical education in electronics and/or telecommunicationsGood understanding of satellite communication networks, systems, and propagation.Knowledge of VSAT, Ka band, L Band and C bandsUnderstanding of Digital Communications Networks: protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, routing, etc) and architecture (routers, switches, firewall, etc.)Good PC skills with knowledge of MS Windows and MS OfficeMust be able to communicate at all organizational levelsHistory of being a team player and team builderCritical ability to set the right priorities in a complex environmentStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsPositive and energetic attitudeCapability to work autonomously as well as a self-starter and self-motivatedHonest, Respectful and PatientAbility to adapt and change in a dynamic working environmentWhat Will Help You On The JobExperience in VSAT and ground stations installationExperience with Viasat systems/services Experience with mobile network and user terminalsWorking experience on Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and monitoring toolsCCNA Cisco certifiedSkills in automation platforms, techniques and scripting EEO StatementViasat is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
