Main duties of the job As the Matron for medicines optimisation you will provide strategic direction and professional nursing leadership, under the direction of the Deputy Chief Nurse, working closely with the Chief Pharmacist and Trust Medication Safety Officer. You will support and direct nursing/midwifery elements of medicine optimisation in relation to all Trust medicines related policies and procedure. The role provides specific leadership to the elements of medicines optimisation that are currently and most notably nursing led such as medicines administration, self-administration of medicines by patients and injectable medicines procedures. In conjunction with the Chief Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the development of effective partnership working with colleagues across all professional groups within the Trust regarding medicines management agenda. You will establish and maintain networks with other professionals within and outside the Trust to share best practice and promote excellence providing specialist expertise as a member of the National Medicines Management Nurses Network You will lead a range of key workstreams and provide expertise and guidance to others. Working in collaboration with pharmacy and senior nursing teams to ensure compliance with national standards, you will be required to demonstrate knowledge of assurance and governance processes and be able to manage multiple complex projects.
