Patient Flow Coordinator
Grade NHS AfC: Band 4 – Contract Permanent. Full and part time applications welcome. Standard working week 37.5 hours per week.
Job overview
As a Patient Flow Coordinator you will optimise ambulance resource flow through real‑time data analysis and communication with crews, supporting efficient patient handovers and keeping ambulance crews mobile across the South Western region.
Main duties
* Analyse data from Hospital Handover and Fleet Barriers Dashboards and other metrics to maintain handover data quality.
* Communicate with ambulance crews via radio and telephone in real‑time and interpret the Resource Availability Dashboard.
* Work collaboratively with HALOs, Operations Offers, Community Response Coordinators and EOC staff to remove barriers to patient care.
* Support the principle that no patient should wait unnecessarily for an ambulance and contribute to efficient hospital handovers.
* Report to the Service Delivery Officer and coordinate with partner agencies.
Qualifications
Education and qualifications
* Minimum 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/5 or above, including Maths and English.
* Level 4 qualification in healthcare, science, data analysis or similar, or equivalent experience.
* Training in Op Titan.
Previous experience
* Demonstrable experience in a call centre or call‑centre‑like environment.
* Experience working in a high‑paced emergency service environment, ideally within an EOC/ODC.
* Experience with new IT systems.
* Previous leadership or mentoring experience is desirable.
