Electrical / Workshop Technician — Telemetry & Instrumentation Location: Nottingham (Workshop-Based) Sector: Water Utilities Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent A leading engineering provider in the Water Utility sector is looking to bring in an experienced, proactive Workshop Technician to support the build and delivery of telemetry systems, instrumentation, and MCC modifications. The role mirrors the site-based position, but with a primary focus on workshop delivery and close collaboration with both office and field teams. Working Pattern & Overtime: This position offers flexible working hours and days, allowing you to structure your week to suit operational needs and your own work-life balance. Many team members typically complete their 40 hours Monday–Thursday, enabling them to finish early on Fridays when workloads allow. Overtime is available and paid at time-and-a-half, with opportunities both inside the workshop and occasionally across other departments depending on workload. The Role: You’ll oversee the assembly of electrical and telemetry equipment, review technical documentation, manage stock, and support Project Managers and Site Technicians to keep project delivery smooth and efficient. Professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong safety ethos are key. Key Responsibilities: • Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of colleagues. • Manage workshop stock and inventory. • Review I/O schedules, panel drawings, and test documentation. • Assemble electrical equipment to required specifications. • Work closely with Project Managers and Site Technicians to support project needs. • Follow company operational, HR, and safety procedures. • Represent the business professionally at all times. Requirements (Flexible for the right candidate): • Level 3 Electrical Qualification or equivalent. • ECS Gold Card — desirable. • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations — desirable. • Strong understanding of safe working practices near electrical equipment. • Confident IT user, particularly with Microsoft Excel. • Ability to act on your own initiative. • Water industry experience — desirable. • Full UK driving licence — desirable.
