We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment across the southwest.
This role sits in Project and Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a senior position within our integrated project team. You will take responsibility for the delivery of projects in your portfolio from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design, construction and handover. You will mentor and coach project team members, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team. You will be responsible for financial management and delivering results on time.
You will build a great working environment with high performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, you will establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working. You will make key project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding is crucial.
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises. Responsibilities
* Deliver projects from initial strategic planning to feasibility, detailed design, construction and handover.
* Mentor and coach project team members, adjusting involvement based on team strength.
* Manage financial aspects and ensure projects deliver results on time and within budget.
* Build and maintain high-performing teams, including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and partners.
* Apply commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management; establish effective relationships and facilitate collaboration.
* Make key project decisions informed by technical leads while following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
* Develop resilient relationships with stakeholders, negotiating agreements, consents, approvals and external funding.
* Participate in incident response duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* A degree in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline, ideally with chartered membership of a professional body (MICE, CIWEM, IMechE, MAPM or MRICS).
* Training and experience in project management, ideally with PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM Project Management qualification.
* Training and experience in contract management, ideally NEC4.
* Health & safety training and experience, including CDM regulations.
* Significant experience (>8 years) in project and contract management ideally within engineering, construction or flood & coastal risk management.
* Project management experience including preparing scopes and contracts, cost monitoring/forecasting, risk management, business case development, measuring performance and administering contracts.
* Technical knowledge in areas like coastal engineering, feasibility assessment, flood risk assessment, solution development and costing of options, asset management, environmental assessment, CDM, engineering design and construction.
* A track record for delivering results through coordination of a technical team.
* The ability to mentor and support team members.
* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

Additional Information
Travel to other offices, project sites and overnight stays will be required and there is an expectation of co‑locating at least two days a week.
