Site Engineer / Construction Supervisor
Join Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority – to manage and oversee construction and demolition activities on UK decommissioned nuclear sites.
Key Deliverables
* Responsible for oversight and monitoring of contractor construction activities, ensuring compliance with documentation and providing constructive feedback.
* Review and acceptance of contractors’ risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work within the site construction office.
* Liaise with contractors and site teams to ensure safe and compliant work delivery.
* Proactively plan and coordinate all works on site.
* Create a positive safety commitment, promote company values and best practice sharing.
* Ensure site self‑performing teams and maintenance teams meet CONSIs minimum requirements.
* Ensure contractors provide effective safe systems of work and pre‑job briefs before significant risk works.
* Inspect contractors regularly to verify compliance with agreed safe systems.
* Intervene when contractors deviate from safe systems, determine reasons, and, if necessary, suspend work until review.
* Intervene to suspend work immediately where an imminent risk of serious injury or dangerous occurrence exists.
* Conduct formal inspections of contractors’ work, record findings and place corrective actions.
* Review contractor safety documentation to keep controls suitable, sufficient and relevant.
* Ensure contractor compliance with relevant CONSIs.
* Provide oversight of construction activities in accordance with site licence conditions.
* Support relevant safety audits and inspections from key stakeholders/regulators.
* Maintain a daily log of contractor activities.
* Ensure contractors have suitable emergency/contingency arrangements supporting site arrangements.
* Assist with safe delivery within your range of skills, knowledge, experience and training.
Qualifications and Experience
* Construction skills – CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS/SSSTS) (Essential).
* Relevant experience of managing or supervising construction activities (Essential).
* HNC/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, preferably in a construction background (Essential).
* A thorough knowledge of the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (Essential).
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Desirable).

Additional Information
Security clearance required or the ability to obtain it. A commutable distance to sites is required; hub locations across the UK may be considered. Flexibility with base location for central/multi‑site roles.
