About the role:
The British Museum is embarking on one of the most significant cultural redevelopment projects undertaken anywhere in the world. The Masterplan will transform the Museum for the 21st century while staying open, maintaining the founding commitment to keep the collection safe and accessible to the public for generations to come.
The successful candidate will support the engagement functions of the Development department for Members and supporters, including overseeing the production of e-communications, direct mail communications, the production of the Museum’s Magazine and Remus (our Young Friend’s publication), and broader engagement activities online, in print, and in person.
Key areas of responsibility:
* E-Communications: generating content for emails to Museum Members and supporters, manage the creation of weekly Members’ and Young Friends’ e-newsletters and managing the welcome programme for new Members.
* Printed Communications: Draft content for cover letters and inserts for the Magazine and What’s On mailings, draft content for monthly renewal letters to Direct Debit and Cash payers and oversee production and delivery of donor card mailings.
* Data: Provie accurately suppressed and segmented data for mailings, with support from the Database Manager and manage Membership lists and suppressions within the Museum’s email system.
* Publications: Conduct picture research for Magazine and Remus, liaising with authors, the Photographic department, and external sources as needed and oversee invoicing for all publication-related costs.
* Online Content: Ensure Membership web content is up to date and oversee upload and rights clearance photography, video, or audio content.
About you:
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Prior experience in a marketing or fundraising team
* Strong written and visual communication skills with an understanding of marketing and fundraising principles
* Copyrighting and editing precision
* Able to prioritise and work to deadlines with multiple stakeholders
* Confident communication and presentation skills
