Payroll Technical Officer – East Sussex County Council
Join East Sussex County Council as a Payroll Technical Officer. This permanent, full-time role is based in Lewes and offers a hybrid working style.
Overview
Support a busy payroll team that pays around 11,000 employees monthly across 16 employers. Provide expert support and advice to customers and colleagues, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities
* Generate payroll reports and reconcile payroll data.
* Assist with technical actions required to complete monthly payroll runs.
* Provide clarity and support to customers and colleagues on statutory deductions, payments and payroll legislation.
Qualifications & Attributes
* A pro‑active approach to work and problem solving.
* The ability to spot and deal with issues as they occur.
* Well‑organised and an exceptional eye for detail.
* In‑depth working knowledge of statutory deductions, payments and legislation that impacts payroll.
* Strong communication skills to assist the team in resolving complex queries from a variety of customers.
* Aware of pensions legislation and schemes – beneficial for Pension Automatic Enrolment administration and reporting responsibilities.
