Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor responsible for the commercial performance of projects, ensuring continuous value for money and quality. This role requires a professional with extensive experience in managing commercial, residential, and retail projects, ensuring compliance with all policies and maintaining high standards of work.
Day-to-day responsibilities
* Monitor cash flow and valuation planning, ensuring applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
* Prepare valuations monthly or as required, and complete monthly cost value reports.
* Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure specifications, costs, profitability, and value meet project requirements.
* Manage and negotiate the subcontract tender process, including cost evaluation and procurement.
* Conduct internal and external monthly review meetings with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
* Prepare and submit variations and maintain variation registers for both clients and subcontractors.
* Value and certify subcontractors’ payments, maintaining accurate payment records.
* Negotiate and agree on final accounts with subcontractors and client’s quantity surveyors upon project completion.
* Prepare Bill of Quantities (BoQ's) and contract documents, and manage the procurement of materials and plant as required.
* Establish contract budgets from tender estimates and prepare formal contract documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* 3rd Level Qualification in Building/Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying related subject or equivalent.
* At least 8-10 years’ experience in a QS role working on projects with values up to £10m.
* Strong knowledge of general building works and experience with NEC and JCT Contracts.
* Excellent negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to share information at all levels.
* Planning and organising skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* A full current driving licence is essential.
