Bank/casual Personal Assistant required to support a female aged 61 years old in West Pelton - Stanley - DH9.
Bank / casual only
Female only PA only.
I have multiple chronic conditions and limited mobility. I have a younger head in an older body.
Hours /Wage
25 hours 15 mins per week to cover holidays, £13 per hour. I would be happy with fewer hours whilst my PA is away, but a maximum of 25 hours per week.
Additional hours may be needed to cover sickness or unforeseen circumstances. Various days are pre-arranged in advance of booked holidays.
I have a well-established PA who would be willing to show you the ropes.
Duties
* Assist with personal care when unable to move, including shower help in a wet room.
* Help with hair, blow-drying, and upper body dressing, including socks and shoes.
* Make or change the bed weekly.
* Put washing on the airer and fold clothes if necessary.
* Carry things to the mobility car, garden, or different rooms.
* Help with putting the mobility scooter up or down if needed.
* Tidy sofas, pick up dropped items.
* Assist with reaching or doing things I cannot do due to limited upper body reach.
* Medication and appointment reminders.
* Help with opening things or chopping vegetables to enable independent cooking.
Additional Requirements/Information
I prefer someone who has experience in a care setting, empathetic, and understanding of depressive disorders. A good sense of humor and patience are essential, as I tend to be tearful at times due to recent life-changing experiences and occasional memory problems (not dementia). I value independence, so support is to assist, not take responsibility for my life.
Car driver would be useful unless you live in West Pelton, as I have a mobility car. No cleaning is required, but light tidying and possibly accompanying me to local shops are helpful.
A DBS check and references are required (costs covered by the employer).
*Very important:* I have two small dogs, so being dog-friendly is essential. I need someone tolerant of my dogs, who do not require to be isolated in another room. They are generally calm after a few minutes of excitement. I get extremely anxious if my dogs are not tolerated.
