What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a confident communicator with experience in PR, media relations, or communications. You don’t need to have worked in the charity or social enterprise sector before — we’re open to professionals from any background who want to use their skills for good. You’ll ideally have Experience writing press releases, articles or media pitches A good understanding of how to secure media coverage (local, national or trade) Strong written and verbal communication skills An eye for a good story and how to shape it for different audiences It’s also helpful if you Are proactive and enjoy coming up with ideas Are organised and comfortable working independently Can adapt your tone and messaging for different channels or audiences Share our belief in supporting carers and older people in a practical, human way The ability to research, collate and manage a simple media contact database This role is flexible and can be fitted around your availability. You'll be supported with background materials and messaging, and your input will make a real difference.
What will you be doing?
We’re looking for a volunteer with PR or comms experience to help us grow awareness of Two Generations’ Homeshare for the Workforce programme. This innovative scheme supports employees who are caring for ageing relatives by matching their loved ones with carefully vetted, live-in homesharers. In return for low-cost accommodation, the homesharer provides around 10 hours a week of companionship and light help, such as cooking a meal, shopping, or simply being there overnight. By sharing stories and securing media coverage, you’ll help more employers discover how Homeshare can relieve pressure, allowing employees to focus on their jobs, reduce stress and absenteeism, and help older relatives stay independent for longer. Key duties Write and distribute press releases and media stories Research and contact journalists, bloggers, and podcasters, and create a database. Monitor relevant news and identify PR opportunities Help refine messaging and develop a consistent voice across channels
