Overview
Join us for a unique opportunity to work as a Forensic Psychologist in Training across the Yorkshire and Humberside Personality Disorder Partnership (YHPDF). The service focuses on enabling progressive, trauma‑informed ways of engaging people to improve experiences and outcomes for individuals with complex personality or related difficulties.
This is a 3‑year fixed‑term training role. Successful candidates will gain a place on the Practitioner PgD programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University and, upon completion, be eligible to register as a Forensic Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.
Responsibilities
* Work across the CORE Offender Management service, Discovery Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS) and Psychologically informed Planned Environment Approved premises (PIPE APs) to enhance assessment, supervision and risk management of high‑risk offenders.
* Provide psychologically informed case‑management, including joint casework and supporting the implementation of the OPD pathway.
* Conduct psychological formulation and assessment, deliver individual and group‑based interventions, and give consultation and advice to HMPPS colleagues.
* Attend IPP panels, Multi‑Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and other relevant meetings.
* Contribute to service development, training, policy improvement and research projects, presenting findings at conferences or in publications where appropriate.
* Complete all requirements of the PgD programme, including clinical and managerial supervision and reflective practice groups.
* Work remotely for part of the week in line with the trust’s agile working policy and travel regularly across the region.
Qualifications and Registration
* BPS accredited undergraduate psychology degree (eligible for graduate basis for chartership).
* BPS accredited MSc in Forensic Psychology (required for Stage 2 registration).
* Minimum 12 months experience working in a forensic or clinical forensic service with direct work with forensic populations.
* Demonstrable organisational and workload management skills and the ability to work independently under supervision.
