Overview
Four Elms Medical Centre is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team. This post is for 6 sessions a week (3 days) across both our Newport and Cardiff sites.
We are a well-established practice supporting a 25,000 patient list shared over three sites. One site is located in the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, another in Pengam Green Cardiff, and also in Ringland, Newport. All surgeries are located off the M4 corridor with excellent transport links to Cardiff centre and Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP looking for a fulfilling role within a strong clinical MDT setting and the chance to become a long-term member of our thriving practice at this exciting and changing time in General Practice.
Responsibilities
Main duties of the job
Clinical responsibilities:
* In accordance with the practice timetable, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
* Provide counselling and health education
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Collect data for audit purposes
* Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
* Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary, or generically, whenever clinically appropriate
* Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
* This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and will be discussed with the recruiting manager
