Team safety and security are paramount; therefore, this role is critical.
You will have a key strategic role in developing and delivering service strategy, implementing and assuring best practices, managing systems and processes to improve safety, and advising senior teams, care groups, and partner organizations on safety and security compliance.
You will liaise with key partners to drive service growth, lead on major projects, support training and development programs, and manage a team of expert staff.
Your portfolio will be wide-ranging and exciting. While you may not have expertise in all areas, you may offer a mix of expertise and working knowledge, and we will support your development to higher levels.
The post holder will lead an expert team responsible for ensuring health & safety, fire safety, and security services comply with all applicable legislation, CQC standards, health technical memoranda, NHS, and other professional and industry standards.
Using your knowledge and experience, you and your team will work with, and advise, trust managers, colleagues, and partners, as well as leading training development and delivery for staff.
You and your team will work closely with staff at all levels to ensure confidence in the trust's health & safety, fire safety, and security provisions. Partnership working across a large geographical area is essential.
You will be responsible for prompt and thorough investigations of safety, security, and fire incidents, including violence and aggression against staff, and for implementing learning and remedial actions, supporting managers as needed.
The Health, Safety, and Security Manager will:
* Advise external partners, agencies, and regulators on health and safety, fire safety, security, and VPR matters.
* Ensure best practices are implemented across security, fire, and health & safety systems.
* Provide leadership and strategic development for all services within your portfolio, balancing proactive development with operational demands.
* Offer professional leadership to staff and advise senior management on technical and environmental issues.
* Interpret and implement applicable legislation, regulations, and policies.
* Summarize complex information, assess risks, and develop options to support decision-making and statutory compliance.
* Manage budgets effectively, ensuring expenditure stays within limits.
* Lead investigations into incidents, ensuring learning and remedial actions are taken, including supporting impacted staff.
* Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to ensure value for money and compliance.
* Line manage the health & safety team, including staff development and wellbeing.
