Key responsibilities
* Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
* Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottlenecks and problem‑solving production constraints; attending breakdowns and reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams
* Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
* Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
* Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished‑ product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
* Provide manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
* Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
* Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
* Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
* Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
* Complete improvement and development projects by training and guiding other members of the team.
Skills and experience required
* Previous proven experience working within a manufacturing environment
* Good understanding of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques
* Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, process flows, work instructions, control plans etc.
* Hands‑on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation
* Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high‑volume manufacture
* Confident with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
* Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
* Creative problem‑solving abilities with an analytical approach to implementation,
* Results‑orientated with the ability to deliver business value
* Self‑motivated with the determination to succeed
* A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑moving environment.
Desirable
* A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
* Experience working within an automotive or aerospace Tier 1 environment
* Experience using leading Kaizen events and six sigma projects.
