Data Platform Engineering Manager (Hands-On)

* Have you directly managed engineers (not just provided technical leadership)?
* Have you built or operated large-scale distributed data systems handling petabytes of data?
* Are you still comfortable being hands-on technically while leading a team?
A leading AI research company is hiring a senior engineering leader to own and scale its internal data platform infrastructure.
You’ll lead a team building distributed systems that support large-scale model training and experimentation workloads.
This is not a pure management role. We are specifically looking for experienced engineering managers who still enjoy being deeply technical and working closely with systems, architecture, and code.
Requirements
* Strong distributed systems and data infrastructure background
* Experience managing high-performing engineering teams
* Strong systems fundamentals (databases, networking, concurrency, algorithms)
* Experience operating large-scale production systems
* Hands-on technical capability alongside people leadership
Nice to Have
* ML infrastructure or model training platform experience
* Experience supporting research or experimentation environments
* Familiarity with high-throughput data pipelines
