Job Title: Design Manager

About the Role
I am seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the coordination, development, and delivery of design solutions across our construction projects. The successful candidate will ensure all designs meet project specifications, regulatory compliance, and client expectations from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design process from tender through construction
* Coordinate between architects, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams
* Review and manage design drawings, technical submissions, and BIM models
* Ensure design deliverables align with project schedules and budgets
* Proactively resolve design-related issues to avoid delays
* Manage change control and assess design risks
* Attend project and design review meetings with internal and external stakeholders
* Maintain compliance with current building regulations, standards, and company procedures
* Support value engineering and constructability reviews
* Ensure accurate documentation and version control throughout design stages
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in design management within the construction industry
* Strong knowledge of relevant UK building regulations and standards
* Background in main contracting, consultancy, or architecture/engineering firms
* Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams
* Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, education, healthcare or similar (adjust as needed)
* Competent with digital design systems (BIM/Revit/AutoCAD desirable)
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability under pressure
Qualifications
* Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
* Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, ICE, CIOB) desirable but not essential
