Job reference: 448-LCA-7946993-A. Main area HCA / Phlebotomist Grade Band 3. Contract: Permanent Part time. 22.5 hours per week (shift pattern 8am-4pm or 11am-7pm). Employer: East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust (Cambridgeshire), Luton Treatment Centre. Salary: £25,760 - £27,476 per annum, pro‑rata. Closing: 14/06/2026 23:59. Interview date: 01/07/2026.

We are looking for a caring and motivated Community Phlebotomist to join our team at the Luton Treatment Centre.

In this rewarding role, you will provide essential nursing care support to the Nursing Team, working primarily within a clinic setting while also carrying out home visits when required. You will deliver phlebotomy clinics at the Luton Treatment Centre and support Community Phlebotomists with domiciliary visits as needed.

During periods of staffing pressure, you may be asked to provide support in other areas, working within your skills and competencies to help maintain high standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the Nursing Team in delivering high‑quality patient care.
* Running phlebotomy clinics at the Luton Treatment Centre.
* Assisting with domiciliary visits alongside Community Phlebotomists.
* Providing flexible support to other services when required.
* Delivering compassionate and professional care in both clinic and community settings.

Shifts will be either 8:00am – 4:00pm or 11:00am – 7:00pm, depending on service and clinical needs.


Qualifications and Training

* N.A.P venepuncture qualification or equivalent or a willingness to undertake training within an agreed timeframe.
* Evidence of Achievement of Care Certificate or willingness to complete within the first 6 months of employment OR Achievement of a vocationally related qualification (e.g. NVQ in Health and social care/clinical healthcare).
* Willingness to undertake Trust mandatory, statutory and essential training and further training related to the role.
* Admin/clerical training.


Experience

* Communicate effectively in English.
* Experience working as a HCA or equivalent.
* Experience of working with the public.
* Previous experience of working in a team.
* Infection Control and universal precaution training or willingness to undertake training.
* Community experience in the phlebotomy/health care setting.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience of training staff on a 1‑to‑1 basis.


Knowledge and Skills

* Standard keyboard and IT skills using Word and Outlook.
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
* Time management and prioritisation skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Accurate and methodical approach to work.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Ability to cope with challenging behaviour.
* Willingness to learn new skills.
* Travel between base and laboratory in the evenings as required to drop samples.
* Experience of S1 IT system.
* Experience of Malinko scheduling system.
