The ideal tutor will be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored & engaging lessons to vulnerable learners. This is a great opportunity to move away from the classroom environment and make a genuine difference in a learners life, ultimately aiming to get them placed in a school.
Contract/Position Details:
1. Location – Within the community or pupils’ home in Staffordshire

6. Full-time/part-time – Part time
7. Minimum rate of pay – From £25-£30 per hour
8. Hours – During/ After school hours
Experience, Training and Qualifications:
9. QTS or equivalent
10. Possess UK classroom teaching experience
11. Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
12. Have experience working with SEND or disengaged pupils
To be eligible for this role the potential tutor must:
13. Hold the right to work in the UK
14. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
15. Provide two professional child-related references.
Prospero teaching is looking for tutors to work with schools, Local Authorities and Virtual Schools Teams across Staffordshire.
As well as private enquires we work mainly with LAC and students who are often experiencing a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and who are not often working to age – related levels. Therefore it would be ideal if you have some experience in this field.
Tuition takes place generally in school daytime hours but also a popular time of after school 3-4pm and evening. Sessions can range between 1 – 4 hours on a daily or weekly basis. Sessions can be in a student’s home. School or care home.
When a referral is made, tuition needs to be put in place as soon as possible therefore you need to be flexible and contactable. The more flexible you can be the more we can build up your timetable!
The individual needs to be good at working independently when tutoring offsite therefore it is vital that they are organized, punctual and reliable, we have grown through or reputation so it is precious to us that this continues.
Although you will generally be working outreach we are big on communication to ensure the safeguarding of our learners. We expect daily updates reported to our office of attendance and any other issues that may arise. We also ask for a written weekly report for every learner.
