Overview
We currently have a vacancy for an advanced practitioner in the Bassetlaw Family Support and Safeguarding Team.
We are a multi-disciplinary team consisting of experienced social workers, newly qualified social workers, early help case managers, family support workers and regularly welcome students and apprentices into the team. We are also fortunate to have a worker from Women’s Aid and will soon be joined by a worker from Change, Grow, Live (drug and alcohol service).
As an advanced practitioner you will be the allocated social worker for a limited number of children with complex family circumstances and, under the direction of the Team Manager, will co-work and provide support to social workers to increase their knowledge and skills in high quality assessment, analysis and risk management. You will have supervisory responsibility for a small number of workers and will support reflective and group supervision within the team.
You will need to have 3 years’ post qualifying experience in children’s social care and have experience of mentoring and supervising others. The family support & safeguarding teams work with children who are supported by child in need and child protection plans as well as children who are looked after by alternative carers, including foster carers and kinship carers. The teams also work with families within pre-proceedings and care proceedings so a sound knowledge and experience of court work is required.
The teams are very well supported by business support colleagues and dedicated social work support officers, who are an integral part of the team and enable social workers to spend more time with children and their families.
Nottinghamshire offer a wide range of training and you will receive regular supervision and development opportunities to further your career.
Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks. Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation. Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
