Overview
We are seeking a well-motivated registered nurse to join our Nuclear Medicine team. The position is based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. The position is part time at 29 hours per week, with the planned working pattern being negotiable with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
The main duties involve ensuring the highest standard of professional nursing care is provided to all patients attending the department; participating in clinical governance and clinical audit initiatives; and ensuring evidence-based practice. Safely and accurately administer radiopharmaceuticals by oral and intravenous routes to adult and paediatric patients. Work as part of the local Nuclear Medicine team which includes clinical scientists, clinical technologists, nursing and administrative staff.

Specific training in Nuclear Medicine will be provided by the lead nurse and other staff as appropriate. The successful appointee will be an integral part of the team.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential: Registered General Nurse; IV Certification; Degree in nursing or equivalent; Basic Life Support; Good numeracy; Written and verbal communication; Patient moving and handling; Planning, project and prioritising; Analytical thinking; Ability to work unsupervised; Ability to present nursing information; Computer literacy.
Desirable: Intermediate Life Support; Radiation Protection; IRR training; IR(ME)R training; Paediatric venepuncture; Experience of working with children; Clinical nuclear medicine; Administration of radiopharmaceuticals; Clinical measurements (BP, lung function testing); Use and interpretation of ECG; Defibrillator; Blood glucose; Radiation monitors.
Experience
Venepuncture & Cannulation; Administration of IV drugs; Dealing with patient emergencies; Clinical supervision and training other staff; Participation in clinical governance; Clinical audit; Infection control; Risk management.
