Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑work operational support to the Duty Shift Team.
* Act as Site Controller and Authorising Engineer within the safe system of work for control of work activities on site.
* Review, prepare, coordinate, issue, monitor, and control all work activities on site.
* Support the control and operation of a terminal to facilitate throughput of gas flow nominations from Supplier Terminals, Shippers, and Delivery Facility Operators into the national transmission system.
* Develop and approve plant isolations for planned works.
* Communicate and liaise with the Gas Network Control Centre, Supplier Terminals, Shippers, and Delivery Facility Operators.
* Undertake operational system actions in respect of gas quality and network entry agreement breaches and act on Terminal Flow Advice notices.
* Manage and support safe setting‑to‑work of all work activities, drive a culture of safety compliance, and undertake incident investigations.
* Prepare and authorise permission documents within SCO/91 &/94 and EL/96 for all work types.
* Maintain accurate site operational records to ensure compliance with policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
* Support construction and commissioning of new assets and non‑load related project works.
* Contribute to development, review, and update of emergency, security, safety, operational, and environmental plans and procedures.
* Assume the role of incident controller and site main controller during planned and emergency situations, and monitor security operations.
* Ensure protection of plant, systems, and equipment, including monitoring third‑party work.
* Assist with routine operational activities related to terminal and AGI systems and assets to optimise work effectiveness and asset availability.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency. Further details are available at the UK Security Vetting site.
Key Requirements and Experience
* Good understanding of legislative requirements, company standards, and instructions.
* Knowledge of terminal plant & equipment operation, including compressor units, gas blending, flow control, and fault diagnosis.
* Detailed understanding of Safe Control of Operations procedures and authorisation as Authorising Engineer, Site Controller, and authorised person plant.
* Competent against the Competency Framework for the role.
* Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation, and communication skills to promote teamwork between site staff, project teams, and contractors.
Qualifications Required
* Minimum of HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with significant relevant experience.
* IOSH Managing Safely certification.
* Valid current driving licence.
