Reimagine What’s Possible The Mobile Analytical Services (MAS) Chemist is a key member of the Regulatory & Quality function within the Mobile Analytical Services team. This role provides high‑quality scientific and analytical services to customer installations across the UK and Ireland, the wider Industrial Gases business, and external customers. The role is diverse and technically demanding, involving the delivery of mobile analytical services alongside the management of associated processes, equipment, and safety and quality management systems. The MAS Chemist plays an integral role in supporting innovative solutions, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve efficiency and operational performance. Strong technical competence, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to influence are essential to support risk‑based, strategic improvements while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities The MAS Chemist is accountable for the following key outcomes: Safe & Compliant MAS Operations Provide Mobile Analytical Services in line with company specifications, corporate standards, and safety requirements. Ensure both Air Products operational sites and customer sites remain compliant and achieve defined KPIs. Analytical & Laboratory Services Carry out laboratory and mobile analytical services, including: Project support activities Planned and unplanned maintenance Equipment calibration Housekeeping duties Validation and qualification activities Accurate and timely reporting of analytical data Business & Project Support Support internal and external MAS business activities to maintain positive EBITDA performance. Execute project activities effectively, ensuring clear and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Build strong working relationships across the UKI Industrial Gases business. Deliver quality‑critical MAS services to ASU, PG, and external customers, including laboratory analysis where required. Quality, Safety & Compliance Deliver a high‑quality operation fully compliant with local legislation and Air Products corporate standards. Minimise risk to employees, the public, and the environment through strong safety leadership. Innovation & Technology Awareness Stay up to date with emerging and cutting‑edge analytical technologies. Work closely with the Mobile Analytical Services Manager to assess and implement relevant technologies, including hydrogen‑related applications. Autonomous Working Demonstrate self‑motivation and ownership in planning and executing daily activities. Act responsibly and comply with all Air Products internal standards and policies. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline, or significant equivalent relevant experience Valid full UK driving licence Experience with specialised gas analytical techniques (e.g. Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry ) Knowledge and experience working within a modern laboratory environment and quality management system Strong safety awareness with a high level of site safety training Ability to work effectively across the business and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes Strong written communication skills Ability to work remotely and travel extensively Self‑motivated and capable of working independently Strong IT literacy, including Computer Management Systems and Microsoft Office We are the world’s largest hydrogen producer with over 80 years of industrial gas experience.
