About the Employer About the employer I am both the employer and mother to my young son who has been allocated 6 hours per week PA support during school holidays via direct payment. My son has a Developmental delay, Autism (ASD), and is nonverbal. I am seeking a PA to work alongside us as a family to provide my son with 1-1 support to access social activities within the community and provide me a break from my caring role. My son is nonverbal however; he can communicate effectively in relation to his needs and wants and will lead by hand when he wants to go somewhere. He is a energetic child and enjoys being active He loves the outdoors, swimming/water play, trampoline parks, going for walks and accessing sensory activities or venues. My son has access to a push chair when out and about to assist when he is tired or to help him feel safe and calm in busier environments He requires a PA to assist with personal care to assist him in going to the toilet as he wears nappies to manage any accidents. Summary of duties: The successful personal assistant will support my son in accessing new activities and experiences in the local community. You will support him in developing his social skills and help him build confidence. There is a requirement to support him with personal care at times if on an outings, as he does wear nappies. The role is to befriend and offer companionship with a view to extending his support network It is desirable that the personal assistant will be expected to use their own car /car share with other PA to take my son to social activities. His needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
