Project Engineer (MEICA)
The Role
As Project Engineer within the MEICA business, you will bring demonstrable MEICA or industrial installation experience and practical skills to the team. You will provide detailed technical input, ensure safety and quality, and engage the construction team to deliver projects safely, cost-effectively and to customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Support the Project Management team and deliver MEICA projects on time and within budget.
* Produce functional specifications, select contractors and ensure scope delivery.
* Provide commercial data for variation orders and site instructions.
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary design and manage engineering suppliers.
* Drive health and safety excellence, eliminate hazards and comply with CDM procedures.
* Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, planners and quantity surveyors.
* Attend regular client meetings to communicate progress.
* Develop and review tender documents for consultants and construction works.
* Understand project risks and coordinate mitigation activities.
* Conduct technical assurance checks and audits of contractor activities.
* Resolve engineering issues and ensure quality control.
* Manage engineering aspects from inception to completion, ensuring technical and quality standards.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
* Develop and oversee project plans, schedules and budgets.
* Prepare detailed MEICA & interface engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to the project team.
* Co‑ordinate site visits, inspections and quality control.
* Prepare project progress reports and presentations to clients and stakeholders.

* Contracts Managers/QS, Procurement Manager, Planner, Project Managers, Engineering Team Leads.
* Site Agents and Site Team.
* Client’s site, commissioning & engineering & technical assurance teams.
Person Specification
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work with the MEICA team, 3rd parties and clients.
* Team player who can coordinate project‑related activities with consultants and 3rd parties.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills.
* Methodical approach with a clear focus on client, customer, and quality.
* Strong leadership qualities and natural problem solver.
* Prioritise varied workload and demonstrate good time management to meet deadlines.
* Can work in a busy environment under pressure and maintain a “can do” attitude.
Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, Manufacturing or Civil engineering.
* SMSTS or NEBOSH qualified.
* Relevant CSCS Card for supervisory or manager roles.
* Three years+ experience in a senior engineer role with >3 direct reports.
* Familiar with programme management and maintenance.
* Proficient with Office 365 suite.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe work practice.
* 1st Aid trained.
* Significant industrial MEICA, Civil or Engineering background.
Desirable Requirements
* WIMES Standards familiarity.
* Experience in utilities industry – water & wastewater.
* Strong communication and programme/schedule management experience.
* Commercial and contract experience.
* Understanding of power project economics.
* Knowledge of MF1, NEC, IChemE or similar model contracts.
* EUSR Water Hygiene card (desirable).
