Role Overview
The Practitioner will work as part of a specialist team and be responsible for the clinical examination and assessment of patients to select and insert appropriate venous access devices for patients requiring intermediate and long‑term intravenous therapies throughout the UHCW Trust.
Key Responsibilities
* Insert and remove medium/long‑term VADs such as midlines, PICC lines, Hickman and Portacaths.
* Follow‑up patients post‑line insertion and support clinical areas in the management of all long‑term VADs.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based programmes of nursing care in relation to VAD management and access.
* Provide specialist advice and work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team throughout UHCW NHS Trust in relation to VAD management and access.
* Review and update the Trust VAD protocols.
* Coordinate and, where necessary, establish appropriate training and competency testing for all healthcare professionals involved in VAD management.
* Provide specialist support to nurses, healthcare professionals, other trust staff, patients and visitors in relation to VAD management.
* Participate in audit and surveillance of service delivery.
* Assist with research and development and contribute to quality improvement around VAD management.
* Promote equality, diversity and rights in the workplace.
Interview & Assessment
Interviews for this post are scheduled for 1 Dec 2025. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
