The James Paget University Hospital Pharmacy department are looking for someone to join our Pharmacy Procurement team. Previous experience in any sector of pharmacy is desirable and the successful candidate will work towards if not already have an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services. Hospital Pharmacy experience is not essential as full training in medicines ordering processes will be provided.
You will assist the pharmacy department in ordering the medicines required to satisfy the needs of a busy hospital. You will also assist in other aspects of the pharmacy service, such as stock management and dispensing, helping to ensure the highest quality of pharmaceutical care is given to our patients. The role is mainly office based.
The team has a strong focus on training and development and supports career progression within the department.
Service requirements include participation in late duty, weekend and bank holiday working.
Main duties of the job
* To accurately process orders ensuring that contract lines have been ordered where applicable.
* To place orders with Manufacturers and Wholesalers electronically using a web based ordering system.
* To order medical and special gases when required.
* To pass invoices and credit notes promptly and investigate, rectify or report discrepancies immediately.
* To investigate and action medications on 'To Follow' to ensure that the stock is obtained as quickly as possible whilst considering urgency and cost.
* To ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately and that filing systems are kept up to date and in good order.
* To liaise with the Procurement Manager regarding out of stocks, non-contract and supplier issues.
* To claim monies back from Manufacturers for off-contract purchases where applicable.
* Follow Departmental SOP's at all times.

Person Specification
Education
* GCSE's
* Word processing and use of Internet and IT skills
* NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent
Experience
* Ability to prioritise
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team or people orientated position
* Ability to understand the needs of patients/staff and respond accordingly
* Pharmacy experience
* Experience of working in a hospital environment
Skills
* Self-confident with the ability to work alone and as part of a team
* Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the working environment
