Job Description:
The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
You will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. You may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.
Duties may vary with the type of ward / department and the degree of patient dependency
Additional required after 2 years Post registration
You will be responsible for directing, coordinating and supervising, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in relation to patient care.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
* Ability to work varied shifts.
* A full valid driving licence is required for the post as you must be able to travel as NHSL Rotational Contract
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
* Evidence of further education and continuous professional development
* Educated at degree level in a Health related subject
* Must have recent experience within the Pre-Operative Assessment Service or have post registration experience in a Surgical and/or medical setting
* Provide a nurse led service with in depth assessment skills
* Experience/Knowledge of new systems and approaches within the Pre-Assessment service post Covid pandemic
* Wide knowledge of treatment of clinical conditions particularly surgical specialties e.g. Vascular, Ent, Max fax, Colo Rectal, Urology, General surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic & Gynaecology
* Be computer literate and have working knowledge of IT systems used e.g. Trak, Clinical portal, Lims
* Have expanded practice in a range of clinical skills including phlebotomy & IV Iron
* Ability to work independently using own initiative and have robust decision making skills

Please note this is a fixed term post for 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Pre Assessment within University Hospital Monklands
The working pattern for this role is Rotational
