About the role
The assessment officer within the Crime Management Unit will be responsible for assessment of occurrences/incidents/reports recorded by Dorset Police and making appropriate decisions regarding crime recording matters, information gathering, screening, allocation and finalisation of crime records.
The assessment officer will also be responsible for crime recording data quality, the integrity of force crime recording and management of crime records within the occurrence management system to provide consistency and quality assurance in line with national standards.
Main responsibilities
* To ensure that crime recording data standards are consistent across the force and comply with the requirements of HOCR, NCRS, MoPI, and force crime recording requirements.
* To identify, collect and assess all relevant information from various sources and be personally responsible for making decisions and applying standards in respect of accuracy, consistency and integrity of Force recorded crime data.
* To manage the CMU quality assurance regime and crime management correspondence, ensuring that all relevant occurrences, reports and correspondence items are assessed, actioned or allocated as appropriate.
