The Anticoagulation Service is situated within Pathology at Chorley Hospital. We work across sites at Royal Preston Hospital and within the community at outreach clinics.
You will be guided in your role by a fantastic, friendly team of Specialist Anticoagulant Nurses, Specialist Biomedical Scientists, and Administrators. Our aim is to find a conscientious and well-organised individual to support the service. Within this role you will have direct patient contact when performing capillary sampling at busy anticoagulant clinics. Excellent communication skills, a positive professional manner, and a drive to provide the best possible care for patients are essential qualities.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinic Coordinator for the Anticoagulation Service you will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills to provide a positive experience for our patients. You will be responsible for obtaining capillary blood samples via finger prick in busy anticoagulant clinics, as well as providing a full range of administrative duties for the service. This dual role involves working within both clinical and office based environments across Chorley Hospital, Preston Hospital and our community based clinics.
You will play a key role in the day to day running of the service by performing key duties such as patient INR testing, processing referrals, data inputting, managing phone calls, maintaining accurate patient records, and liaising with other healthcare professionals to provide an effective service. You must be flexible when working between office based and clinical environments, able to exercise initiative, and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism. You will need to be a self-motivated individual with proven clinical and administration skills, and be able to utilise excellent communication skills to provide the required advice and support to patients. This role requires strict adherence to Trust protocols, being aware of the need for confidentiality and compliance with Information Governance at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties to include but not be limited to:
1. Performing capillary sampling via finger prick at anticoagulant clinics.
2. Data inputting for outpatient anticoagulant clinics in real time.
3. Managing follow up appointments for anticoagulant patients.
4. Processing patient referrals and arranging patient appointments.
5. Managing patient records, ensuring details are kept up to date and provide an accurate documentation trail.
6. Managing emails and letters including DNA letters.
7. Working alongside Administrators to fulfil administrative duties.
8. Responding to external and internal telephone queries from staff, patients and others and referring to appropriate person.
9. Greeting patients and directing clinic flow.
10. Communicating with a range of staff, patients, and visitors to the Trust, utilising a variety of communication methods.

Essential criteria
11. Educated to GCSE level with at least 3 GCSEs at Grade C and above. Must include Maths and English
Desirable criteria
12. ECDL or equivalent
13. NVQ Admin and Clerical or Clinical Support
14. Knowledge of Anticoagulants

Essential criteria
15. Experience of working with patients within a clinical environment.
16. Previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
17. Previous experience of Administrative/Clerical work
18. Understanding of Information Governance, Data Quality, Patient Confidentiality and its requirements
Desirable criteria
19. Previous experience of working in the NHS or a health care or related setting
20. Use of FLEX or other NHS systems to manage patient appointments.
21. Understanding of ANTT.
