Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Technician to support operations at their Yeovil site, operating within a highly regulated, fast‑paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

The Role
* Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
* Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
* Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
* Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
* Carry out welding (MIG and TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement
* Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
* Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
* Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime
* Mentor junior technicians and support team development
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety and 5S standards
About You
With previously experience of working within heavy industry, you’ll be a mechanically biased engineer with the following skills and experience:
* Minimum 3 years experience in a mechanical maintenance role
* Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair skills
* Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
* Proven ability to carry out welding (MIG and TIG)
* Experience in fabrication and component repair
* Skilled in manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment
This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or Shift Engineer.
