The Role
As a HGV Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy goods vehicles to the highest standards. You'll carry out inspections, diagnostics, and repairs efficiently to minimise downtime and keep vehicles road-ready and compliant with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
* Diagnose faults and perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs.
* Conduct pre-MOT inspections and ensure all vehicles meet DVSA standards.
* Complete all relevant documentation accurately and promptly.
* Work closely with the workshop team to plan and prioritise workloads.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety in the workshop.
* Support colleagues and share technical knowledge where required.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and company policies.
Skills & Attributes
* Fully qualified HGV Mechanic / Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Previous experience working on a range of commercial vehicles.
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
* Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 licence desirable).
