We're seeking an exceptional General Manager to take the helm of a prestigious entertainment venue in Plymouth. This is a rare opportunity to manage a recently refurbished, two-level facility that consistently ranks among the top 5-10 venues of its kind in the UK.
The Challenge
This is a demanding but rewarding role requiring flexibility for early starts (7am) during peak periods and late finishes (up to 3am). You'll be joining during a critical transition period with our departing GM available for a comprehensive handover.
About the Role
Following our current GM's promotion to a sister venue in Bristol, we're looking for a dynamic leader to drive performance and deliver outstanding customer experiences. You'll be responsible for the complete operational management of this complex, high-volume site while fostering a positive working culture that values diversity and inclusion.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead and inspire a stable team of 60+ across multiple levels including managers, team leaders, and customer-facing staff
* Set and deliver ambitious business objectives while maintaining the highest operational standards
* Manage performance through regular reviews, coaching, and development planning
* Ensure compliance with all health & safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements
* Drive profitability through strategic roster management and cost-effective operations
* Create exceptional customer experiences that keep us ahead of the competition
* Work collaboratively with senior leadership to share insights and drive continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
* Strong track record of delivering exceptional customer service while empowering your team
* Excellent business acumen with confidence in forecasting, reporting, and strategic planning
* Outstanding communication skills with the ability to coach and delegate effectively
* Experience in people management including recruitment, performance reviews, and succession planning
* Proficiency in IT systems and confident in using technology to drive efficiency
* A passion for the entertainment industry with an approachable, collaborative leadership style
