SEN Teaching Assistant – Opportunities via Teaching Personnel

If you answered yes, then this job opportunity for an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant may be for you! An Alternative Education Provision School in Wareham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
The Role:
You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 8-18 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as:
* Complex and persistent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
* SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition
- Speech, language and communication needs
- Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges
- Pupils may also be awaiting CAMHS assessment/treatment or have experienced self-harm.
- Many have struggled to engage with mainstream education due to social, emotional, or sensory challenges
Who We Are Looking For:
* Applicant must be comfortable working in a PRU / Alternative Provision setting
* A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people
* SEMH experience in or out of an educational setting
* SEN(D) experience in or out of an educational setting
* Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
* Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
* Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
Working Hours/Benefits:
* Full Time
* Monday-Friday = 08:30 – 15:00

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
