CNC Machinist A

Job Overview: Sets up and operates CNC machining centers to produce parts to customer specifications. Involves loading, modifying and running CNC programs, de-burring parts, creating fixtures, and performing routine maintenance.
Responsibilities
* Set up CNC machining centers for single parts and production runs using written instructions and blueprints.
* Run and modify CNC programs, input simple programs at the operator panel, and load and unload production programs.
* Submit first article parts to QC and analyze inspection reports to adjust programs and setups to produce acceptable parts.
* Use band saws, hex wrenches, screwdrivers, and soft hammers; change dull tooling and adjust machine offsets.
* Check part dimensions with micrometers, gage pins, vernier calipers, drop indicators, comparators, thread gages, and other precision tools; record measurements on the part traveler.
* De‑burr parts to customer specifications and clean them.
* Maintain a clean work environment.
* Provide routine maintenance on CNC machining centers.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED. Trade school or apprenticeship preferred or minimum 2 years experience in a metalworking CNC environment.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to draft work instructions using Microsoft Word.
* Mathematical skills: calculate machine offsets, geometry, angles, feeds and speeds relative to material.
* Reasoning ability: solve practical problems and complex fixturing issues; apply common sense with equipment.
* Physical: regular talking/listening, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to sit. Ability to stand for extended periods. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs with assistance. Required visual capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to talk or listen, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to sit. Ability to stand for extended periods. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and 70 lbs with assistance. Required visual capabilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Occasional vibration. Moderate noise level.
