The successful candidate will be of sound and experienced technical ability whilst also having the managerial ability to motivate and lead multiple teams. The Senior Commercial Manager will make key decisions and have the ability to sign off on matters at senior level in this key sector of our business. Responsibilities Through leadership provide strategic input and commercial expertise to a number of construction projects running simultaneously, that ultimately gives value to profitability and delivery, whilst maintaining the company’s reputation at all times Oversee key negotiations with prospective clients, stakeholders, and sub-contractors. Make key decisions Be a sectorial lead and work with multiple internal and external stakeholders in developing and solidifying this key revenue stream of our business Promote a positive attitude, motivate and make key decisions which add value to the department and company Oversee and validate CVR’s and give regular commercial reports to senior management and Board level including risk analysis and proposed strategic actions to achieve key objectives Be of sound NEC experience and ideally have experience in the use of CEMAR Manage third party claims and disputes including co-ordination with Solicitors and Experts etc. Prepare business cases at each stage of a claim and advise on the next step forward. Develop and conclude negotiations and ensure claims are resolved as amicably as possible whilst maintaining the company’s reputation. Attend dispute resolution meetings. Oversee and lead Surveyors to suit emerging and differing needs of projects. Step in and out of every day matters as and when required. Manage Human Resource related matters. Develop staff and undertake PDP’s and PDR’s. Identify short falls in resource levels and engage in the recruitment of new staff when required. Oversee and manage the procurement of the supply chain on a project by project basis. Oversee and develop procurement strategies and plans including transfer of risk and key points of contractual liability and monitor through to conclusion. Oversee the development of procurement documents including forms of subcontract and engagement documents. Oversee and manage the day to day activities of surveyors including payments, valuations, variations and final accounts etc. Ensure all works are in accordance with company policy and best practise. Sign off on matters at a designated level. Prepare, input, lead and liaise with the wider project team and third parties on contractual correspondence both upstream to the Client and downstream to the Supply Chain. Give advice on contractual matters and courses of action including correct administration in line with the provisions of contract. Oversee risk registers and strategies on a project by project basis and monitor and manage this through to successful completion. Take ownership of commercial risks. Develop and nurture relationships with other departments, clients and subcontractors and have the ability to maintain this at all times through difficult and challenging situations.
