Peartree Surgery and West Horndon Surgery have a fantastic opportunity for a practice nurse to join our team, ideally on a full-time basis working 37.5 hours per week, although this can be negotiable for the right candidate. Working across two sites, we have three highly supportive partners who will help develop skills and further your career where possible. We are open to applications from newly qualified nurses to highly experienced nurses.
Main duties of the job
* Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
* Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to meet patients' health and social care needs.
* Promoting general health and well-being, and creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with or at risk of long-term conditions.
* Managing and treating long-term conditions in line with national and local policies and practice needs.
* Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
* Implementing and participating in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including travel vaccinations (note: the practice does not operate private travel clinics).
* Providing opportunistic wound care for patients.
* Conducting hypertension reviews and management (with clinical support).
* Running clinics and reviews for asthma, COPD, and diabetes (support will be available).
* Performing new patient health checks (support and training will be provided).
* Leading infection control initiatives (training will be available).

Peartree and West Horndon Surgeries are patient-focused healthcare providers serving South Ockendon and West Horndon. We have approximately 7,600 patients, with our West Horndon site being a dispensing practice. Our practice comprises three partners, one nurse, and a dispensing team of four pharmacy dispensers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
* Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
* Competence or ability to learn to undertake asthma, COPD, and diabetic clinics and reviews, with relevant certificates where possible (support will be provided).
Experience
* Experience in treatment room consultations, phlebotomy (optional), ECG recording (support will be provided), screening, management of long-term conditions (support will be provided), cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, dressing and wound care.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach, valuing patient dignity, relatives, carers, and colleagues.
* Knowledge and experience supporting long-term conditions.
* Understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS.

Salary: £39,000 per year minimum, dependent on experience.
