About The Role
We are looking for a Workshop Leading Hand to be based from our Horsham depot. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for coordinating workshop activity and ensuring the efficient and timely completion of service and repair work. You will play a key role in driving quality, productivity and team performance, whilst working closely with the Workshop Manager to continuously improve workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead daily workshop operations, ensuring resources are effectively utilised and all work is completed to a high standard.
* Supervise and coordinate the workshop team, allocating tasks to maximise efficiency and productivity.
* Carry out service and repair work on Volvo construction equipment and other machinery.
* Monitor workflow, quality standards and compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
* Provide technical guidance, training and ongoing support to workshop technicians.
* Support workshop performance through process improvements, reporting and stock/inventory control.
About You
You will be an experienced engineer with strong leadership capability, able to balance hands‑on technical work with team coordination. You take pride in high standards, work well under pressure and support continuous improvement within the workshop.
Qualifications
* Formal engineering qualification (Plant, Agricultural, HGV or similar).
* Proven experience in a similar role within heavy plant or related industry.
* Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions and electronics.
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence is required.
