We are recruiting on behalf of an outstanding ASD specialist primary school in Hillingdon, offering a fantastic opportunity for graduates aspiring to careers in Speech and Language Therapy or related fields.
The school is purpose-built to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, with a strong focus on communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and helping children develop independence and confidence. You’ll be part of a highly supportive multidisciplinary team that includes teachers, therapists, and experienced SEN practitioners.
About the Role
You will support pupils with ASD in both 1:1 and small-group settings, using structured communication approaches and specialist teaching methods. This role is ideal for graduates keen to develop practical experience with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). You’ll help pupils build communication skills, manage transitions, and engage in learning through personalised support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting pupils with ASD across EYFS and primary classes
2. Using communication-based strategies such as visual timetables, now/next boards, social stories, and task breakdowns
3. Delivering 1:1 and group interventions focused on communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
4. Supporting sensory needs with movement breaks, sensory resources, and tailored environments
5. Encouraging communication through PECS, Makaton, and visual systems
6. Assisting with personal care and supporting emotional wellbeing
7. Working with teachers to adapt learning materials and maintain low-arousal classrooms
8. Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils transition smoothly between activities
9. Ensuring safeguarding and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment
