Loughshore is looking to recruit Bank Support Workers to join the team.
We are located in the Jordanstown area of Belfast, on the County Antrim coastline. We are in a quiet area, off a main road, and surrounded by pleasant, private grounds, which our residents help to maintain. Our home offers residential support for 16 people with a primary learning disability diagnosis, people on the autism spectrum and those with behaviours that may challenge. People with physical health needs are also supported at the home.
Our team are dedicated to supporting our residents to develop the skills needed for them to live a healthier and happy life. We want to help each person we care for to feel a sense of belonging in their own home and also within their own community.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Support Worker, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
* Provide practical and emotional support to individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or other needs
* Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication management
* Help clients develop independent living skills and promote social inclusion
* Monitor and report any changes in clients' health or behavior to relevant professionals
* Maintain accurate records and ensure a safe, supportive environment for clients

A support worker typically needs prior experience in social care, healthcare, or a similar support role where they have assisted individuals with daily living activities and personal care. Experience working with people who have disabilities, mental health challenges, or elderly clients is highly valued, as it demonstrates an understanding of their unique needs. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals. Additionally, the ability to remain calm in emergency situations and follow care plans accurately is important to ensure the safety and well-being of those they support.
