Consultant in Paediatrics

The closing date is 25 November 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Consultant Paediatricians (1.7 WTE - 1x full time 10PA post and 1x 7PA post) to join the Paediatric Services at North Manchester General Hospital, which is part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Main duties of the job

North Manchester Children's services are managed within Acute & General Paediatrics at RMCH. RMCH is the largest and busiest children's hospital in the UK with 371 paediatric beds. A further 60 neonatal cots also operate, within the same building, in the tertiary neonatal unit of Saint Mary's Hospital. Our specialised (tertiary), and highly specialist (quaternary), services provide care for children and young people across the Northwest, across the UK and internationally.

The secondary paediatric service at North Manchester has become a part of RMCH managed clinical services (MCS) and provides general paediatric care for children and young people living in North Manchester and Bury as well as some areas of Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton and Salford.

The governance and guidelines across both sites have been aligned and this enables our teams to collaborate closely with the many international experts working across the site, to deliver both excellent healthcare and a vibrant, world class research programme.

We are working towards establishing an integrated general paediatric service for the City of Manchester, so that children receive the same levels of excellent care regardless of whether they live in North, Central and South Manchester.

About us

We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research, and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022.
