Apprentice / Trainee Commercial Catering Engineer

Job Role
In this role, you will learn to provide excellent service to a wide range of clients, ensuring maintenance, repair and installation of catering equipment across and beyond Cambridgeshire.
Main Responsibilities
* Training in Preventative Maintenance/Servicing: Assisting in scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of commercial catering equipment.
* Supporting Reactive Repairs: Shadowing experienced engineers to learn diagnostics and on‑site repairs.
* Equipment Installation: Assisting with installation and commissioning of new catering equipment.
* Client Interaction: Learning to provide excellent customer service and build client relationships.
* Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate work records.
* Compliance: Following safety regulations and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
* Optional Weekend Work: Assisting on weekend shifts on an overtime pay basis once trained.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Genuine interest in engineering, mechanics or electrical systems.
* Willingness to learn and undertake training, including COMCAT qualifications (1, 2 and 5).
* Basic practical or hands‑on skills in electrical, plumbing or mechanical work are desirable.
* Good problem‑solving skills and teamwork ability.
* Full driving license desirable but not essential at entry level.
* Open to candidates who have just left college or are still studying and looking to start work.
* Eager to develop a long‑term career in the catering equipment industry.
