Security Officer – Cromwell Hospital, London SW5 0TU
Bank contract. Salary £12.95 per hour. Shift patterns: 7am‑7pm or 7pm‑7am – 12‑hour shifts. Availability Monday to Sunday required to cover absences and holidays.
Role Overview
As a Security Officer, you will respond to all requests for security services, operate systems, maintain accurate logs and reports, follow processes and procedures, and generally assure the safety and welfare of all staff, patients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Recognise and respond appropriately to any situation that may threaten the safety, security or well‑being of the hospital, its patients, visitors, and staff.
* Maintain effective logs and records of activity, supporting seamless flow of information within the Security team and the wider hospital.
* Provide a physical security presence in and around reception areas as directed by the Security Supervisor or deputy.
* Present yourself for duty in a timely manner, dressed and equipped to uphold the highest professional standards.
* Assist in monitoring and controlling access to the Cromwell Hospital premises – administer the ID access control system so personnel gain entry only to areas for which they have a genuine need.
* Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety and Environmental safety requirements.
* Maintain the condition and ensure the suitability and integrity of all security equipment issued for use.
* Assist with regular inspections of emergency and other equipment, including first aid kits, to ensure readiness at all times.
* Carry out regular internal and external patrols of all hospital premises.
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed
* Previous experience in a security role – ideally hospital or hospitality security.
* Must hold a valid SIA Licence.
* Strong customer‑service skills.
* Desirable experience in CCTV operation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* IT literate – knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
