3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• The Housing Options Advisor will provide specialist housing advice and casework to support the triage and assessment of homeless applications.
• Working within the Adults, Health Partnerships and Housing team, the role focuses on reducing backlogs and ensuring timely decisions for customers facing homelessness.
• This is a local, office-based role in Kettering and Wellingborough.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Assess and manage a caseload of homeless or at-risk customers.
• Make statutory decisions regarding eligibility and priority for housing under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
• Provide advice, support, and guidance to individuals threatened with homelessness.
• Produce clear and concise statutory decision letters.
• Liaise and negotiate with external stakeholders, including housing providers, support services, and local authorities.
• Work as part of the Triage Team to ensure effective assessment of on-the-day homeless presentations.
• Maintain accurate records using the Jigsaw housing management system.
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation and council policies.
Skills/Experience:
• In-depth knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
• Experience in housing advice, casework, and negotiation.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload efficiently.
• Experience with the Jigsaw housing system.
• Understanding of statutory homelessness processes and duties.
• Ability to produce clear statutory decision letters.
• Local to Kettering/Wellingborough (office-based 4 days per week).
Additional Information:
• Location: Kettering/Wellingborough offices (non-negotiable).
• Staff to be recruited to work in the office 4 days per week in Corby and Kettering office. MUST BE LOCAL TO OFFICE.
