The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer seeking technically challenging work on cutting-edge projects, to become a permanent member of our creative, friendly Building Engineering Team in Glasgow.
You will work on some of the most exciting and innovative buildings worldwide with our architects. The team is involved with over 100 projects globally, from concept design to practical completion. Current projects include commercial, education, healthcare, leisure, data centres, historic buildings, hotels, and industrial sectors.
You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary team of 200+ Engineers and Technicians within the wider North Region. Our projects are global, offering opportunities to work in an international, multicultural environment with a strong focus on sustainability.
In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, including air conditioning, heating, natural and mechanical ventilation, and building controls. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to minimize environmental impact throughout the design process. Engaging directly with clients, architects, and contractors, you’ll help shape innovative and efficient solutions while managing resources, forecasting costs, and contributing to fee proposals. As a senior team member, you’ll also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their development and supporting continuous improvement.

Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for a candidate who:
* Holds a degree in Mechanical, Building Services, or Architectural Engineering, with a strong technical foundation and practical understanding of building systems design.
* Is a Chartered Engineer with CIBSE / IMechE or equivalent. Chartered status is essential for the Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer role. For the Senior level, chartership is preferred, but we will consider candidates close to achieving it.
* Demonstrates a strong interest and knowledge in sustainable building design, including energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and compliance with standards and frameworks.
* Possesses up-to-date knowledge of UK building regulations, industry standards, and emerging technologies relevant to mechanical building services.
* Experienced in using IES software for dynamic thermal and energy modelling, with developing expertise in applying simulation tools for low-carbon design strategies.
