Job Summary
We are offering a fixed term contract of up to a year for maternity cover with our friendly, enthusiastic team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge as a Band 8a Senior Nuclear Medicine Physicist. The department offers a wide range of diagnostic procedures and therapies, including SIRT, PRRT and PSMA. We have three SPECT/SPECT-CT systems, a PET-CT scanner and a large radiopharmacy. This year we are installing state‑of‑the‑art imaging equipment such as 3D SPECT-CT and LAFOV PET-CT machines. We also provide MPE/physics support for four Nuclear Medicine departments at regional hospitals and are involved in early‑phase MRT trials in partnership with the University of Cambridge.
Responsibilities
* Play a lead role in the delivery of scientific services and radiation safety support to the Nuclear Medicine department, including advice at MPE level.
* Provide similar support in person and remotely to partners across the region.
* Initiate and manage R&D projects and audits to ensure best practice and optimisation of procedures.
* Participate in the duty physics rota (therapies, dosimetry, equipment QC, troubleshooting, etc.).
* Manage and train junior physicists, and provide radiation training to NM & PET staff and other hospital groups working with ionising radiation.
Candidates expecting to submit their MPE portfolio soon are encouraged to apply; the appointment would initially be at a lower banding, pending registration.
