Science Technician - Role Overview (Brent) As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school's science laboratories and helping teachers deliver engaging practical lessons. Your duties will include: Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). Ensuring all experiments are safely prepared according to teacher instructions and safety regulations. Maintaining laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning, calibration, and repairs where appropriate. Managing chemical stock, materials, and equipment inventories. Safely storing, labelling, and disposing of chemicals following CLEAPSS and school guidelines. Supporting teachers during practical sessions when required. Monitoring classroom safety, ensuring equipment is used correctly, and maintaining tidy, organised prep rooms. Assisting with ordering and replenishing science materials. Carrying out general administrative tasks to support the science department. Requirements A relevant science qualification or strong interest/experience in laboratory work. Good understanding of laboratory safety and handling of chemicals. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a school science technician role is desirable but not essential.
