Summary:
The Grade 5 Family Gateway Contact Officer positions are integral to the Family Gateway service within Cardiff Council's Children’s Services. These roles involve a hybrid work model with typically two days in the office each week. The officers will manage and coordinate multiple referrals without carrying a caseload. The Family Gateway is dedicated to providing high-quality information, advice, and assistance to babies, children, young people, families, and professionals across Cardiff. The service employs a family-centered, strengths-based, and inclusive approach to ensure that support is timely and appropriate, working collaboratively with various professionals and partners.
Responsibilities:
* Provide information, advice, and assistance to families and professionals.
* Manage and coordinate multiple referrals.
* Facilitate contact through telephone, web chat, and email.
* Collaborate with Early Help services and partner agencies.
* Recognize and address potential risks to individuals, consulting with Social Workers and other professionals as needed.

Requirements
Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and relevant legislation related to Elective Home Education, Exclusions, CME, EBSA, SEND, and school attendance. Experience working with children, young people, and families, particularly in education, health, or social care settings. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with families, schools, and partner agencies. Confidence and creativity in delivering flexible, responsive support tailored to individual needs. Proficient report writing and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse and busy caseload. Proficiency in IT systems for maintaining accurate records and analyzing data to inform decision-making. Experience working as part of a team and contributing to service development. Ability to provide advice and support verbally in clear and accurate spoken English is essential. A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
