SEN Teaching Assistant Pontefract We are looking for a resilient Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (TA) to work full-time on supply in a specialist school on the outskirts of Pontefract, supporting young people aged 1119 with a range of complex learning needs. This inclusive setting provides education for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, autism, and associated communication, sensory and physical needs. The school takes pride in offering a nurturing and supportive environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. The Role: Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis, adapting learning to meet individual needs. Assisting with personal care and medical needs where required. Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using Team Teach strategies. Supporting communication through alternative methods such as PECS, Makaton or communication aids (training provided where needed). Encouraging independence, social skills and confidence in both classroom and community-based activities. Requirements: Team Teach training is essential. Previous experience supporting young people with SEN, ideally within a specialist school or alternative provision. A patient, caring approach and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
